Webinar: Inclusive Civic Engagement in a Pandemic
Please join Water Education Colorado (WEco), the Water Educator Network, and the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE) for a 90-minute webinar on Inclusive Civic Engagement in a Pandemic.
Increasing participation in community discourse and decision processes is an outcome envisioned in the Statewide Water Education Action Plan for Colorado (SWEAP), an objective of the Colorado Water Plan, and a key component of WEco and CAEE's work. This webinar will introduce resources and examples for incorporating best practices for inclusive civic engagement in an era of social distancing and remote learning.
In this webinar, you will hear an overview of the Community Engagement: Guidelines for Excellence and from a panel of three speakers who are thinking carefully about broad civic participation in water policy and planning efforts even during these times of social distancing when large gatherings are restricted.
Speakers include:
Bora Simmons, National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education
Kathryn Weismiller, Deputy Section Chief, Water Supply Planning, Colorado Water Conservation Board
Emily Zmak, Water Practice Lead, CDR Associates
Jorge Figueroa, Director/Principal, El Laboratorio
With an introduction from Parker McMullen Bushman, Vice President of Community Engagement, Education, and Inclusion at the Butterfly Pavilion and a Q&A with the speaker panel.
We look forward to seeing you on the webinar, 10:00-11:30am, June 25!
