As a Water Leaders Program alum, you have the skills to navigate complex leadership situations in a dedicated, effective manner. Your emotional intelligence skills have been developed, and you are capable of charting innovative and collaborative paths forward to find solutions to our state’s water problems.

The Water Leaders 201 advanced training is open exclusively to Water Leaders Program alumni and is intended to build upon previous leadership training received through WEco to help sharpen your skills in a particular area.

This year’s 201 will focus on practical, tangible and hands-on leadership skills to help you deal with difficult situations, interpersonal dynamics, and bringing out the best possible result in every conflict situation. The session will also include how to take impeccable care of yourself before, during and after experiencing conflict.

The training will be led by Jonathan Bartsch, CEO/Principal at CDR Associates, who has multiple decades of experience in bringing the public and agencies together to solve problems and make solid decisions. In his work at CDR, Jonathan thrives on complex, high-stakes negotiations, especially in the areas of natural resources and transportation.

In the workshop, we’ll explore:

  • The basics of designing, facilitating, and implementing collaborative processes
  • Which type of situations you have had challenges managing
  • Introduction of problem-solving models for engaging stakeholders and partners
  • Conceptual frameworks for analyzing and responding to conflict situations
  • Use of communication skills and approaches to productively engage
  • Practice to identify your facilitation style and approach
  • Application to your day-to-day work

The workshop will not only be a great chance to build your facilitation skills but also to catch up with and meet fellow water leaders alumni you’ve not yet had the opportunity to meet.

In order to preserve a quality, customized experience, the training is limited to 26 participants. Registration will be first-come, first-served. Don’t delay in securing your spot! Click here to register!
