Water Words: Fluid Communication Series

Registration is closed for this event

A virtual professional development opportunity for Water Leaders

Water Education Colorado is excited to bring this exclusive professional development series to our Water Leaders alumni. Registration for this virtual series will include four different lunch-time trainings. Each of the presentations will be recorded in the event that you cannot attend the live broadcast to ensure you get the full suite of learning that we have put together for you.

The focus of this series is effective communication and presentation skills. Each presentation will build upon the other, culminating in a virtual version of Leader Unplugged, a staple component of our existing annual Water Leaders Program curriculum. During the Leader Unplugged sessions we invite individuals from the water community to share their experiences with us in a “behind the curtain” fashion, where we get to hear the raw and real lessons they have learned during their career.

Fluid Presentation Skills – Gregory K. Hernandez, Exc.Com.Unique

June 18, 2020: 12:00 – 1:30pm
During this first session, we will learn the Seven Essential Building Blocks for Public Speaking. We will have a few Water Leaders in the film studio learning these essential skills, while others observe, critique, and learn from them as we all watch how these skills will transform your public speaking presence. We will also learn how to manage anxiety and enhance your trust and credibility with any audience!

Fluid Messaging – Gregory K. Hernandez, Exec.Com.Unique

July 2, 2020: 12:00 – 1:30pm
Building off of the first session we will learn the art of storytelling and message development. What you learn during this session can be applied to any situation from large presentations to everyday communications. You will learn how to express yourself with clarity and how to frame a persuasive message.

Fluid Trust David Bersoff, Edelman
July 16,2020: 12:00 – 1:30pm

Where does trust come into communication? During this session we will learn what every leader should know about trust, but that most don’t. We will examine the different types of trust, the cardinal rules of trust, and the foundations of trust. We will also review data on the current state of trust in various societal institutions and what that means for people who lead water-related organizations. Finally, we will discuss how to build trust as leaders among our employees and as organizations within the community.

Brian and Chris are freshly retired from very successful careers where the words they spoke and how they presented themselves and their organizations influenced the water community as we know it today in Colorado. The two of them will be sharing their top communications-related lessons coupled with real stories about what to do and even what not to do when it comes to choosing your water words wisely!!
