Briefly: U.S. cities sinking quickly, spurred by groundwater pumping, land use, flooding

The Washington Post reports that land subsidence is threatening major cities across the U.S. and the world, including New Orleans, Miami and large swaths of the East and Gulf coasts. Subsidence is often the result of over pumping of underground water supplies, but is also caused by development and flooding.
