Briefly: U.S., Mexico and NGOs providing environmental flows to parched Colorado River Delta

Water Education Foundation reports that water is flowing again in the Colorado River’s delta in Mexico. The flow started May 1, 2021 and will continue through October. The U.S. and Mexican governments are providing the water in partnership with a coalition of conservation groups. In accordance with a 2017 agreement, the collation of NGOs, Mexico, and the United States each agreed to provide one-third of a total 210,000 acre-feet of water to support restoration activities and recreational opportunities in the parched delta region through 2026.
