In Brief: Construction begins on long-delayed Arkansas Valley Conduit

Construction has begun on the 230-mile pipeline project that will supply water to some 40 communities in the Lower Arkansas Valley, CBSDenver reported this weekend. President John F. Kennedy signed the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project in 1962. However, the Arkansas Valley Conduit was put on hold due to a lack of financing and now, after nearly six decades, the project is due to be complete in 15 years.
