Briefly: California’s Newsom orders cities, water districts to tighten drought rules

The San Jose Mercy News reports that California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday order cities and water districts to tighten drought rules, as the state’s third year of severe drought begins. For many communities, it will mean reducing the number of days lawns can be watered. Newsom stopped short of ordering mandatory statewide cuts in water use.
