Briefly: Former U.S. Interior Secretary urges revamp of Colorado River Compact

The Los Angeles Times reports that former U.S. Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt is asking that the seven Colorado River Basin states seriously examine how to rework the Colorado River Compact, something the states have been loathe to do since the compact was signed in 1922. Babbitt says the compact needs to better reflect the long-time declines in the river’s flows.
