Briefly: Bill Gates bets big on Wyoming power industry

According to AP News, Bill Gates’ company TerraPower has chosen Kemmerer, Wyo., as the location for a sodium-cooled nuclear reactor. Many residents in Kemmerer see the project as a positive implementation that offers economic benefits since Rocky Mountain Power’s Naughton coal power plant plans to close in 2025. According to TerraPower President and CEO, Chris Levesque, at peak capacity the plant could generate 500 megawatts, enough for 500,000 homes, and allow Wyoming to reduce its reliance on coal.
