Briefly: Jicarilla Apache Tribe OKs Colorado River water lease

According to The Paper, the Jicarilla Apache Nation, the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, and The Nature Conservancy have reached an agreement concerning the lease of tribal water to help address the dwindling water supplies in the Colorado River Basin. The tribe has agreed to lease up to 6.5 billion gallons of water per year to the state of New Mexico to increase water security and provide for endangered species.
