Briefly: Rocky Ford’s water highest in nation for radium contamination

The Gazette reports that some of the highest concentrations of radium-contaminated drinking water in the nation are scattered throughout rural Southeast Colorado. Recently released drinking water contamination data compiled by the Environmental Working Group revealed that the worst radium content in the nation is found in Rocky Ford. Additionally, 18 other water systems in Colorado contain more than the legal limit. The Arkansas Valley Conduit is an infrastructure project that aims to resolve the radium problem; it was started this year. However, funding is still needed to complete the ambitious project.
