Briefly: Salton Sea lithium and renewable energy project underway

The Desert Sun reports that after years of delay, an innovative initiative to mine the hot, briny waters underneath the Salton Sea for lithium and renewable geothermal power is underway, although legal challenges regarding Colorado River water availability, other environmental concerns, and the health and safety of impoverished, local residents remain.
