Briefly: Why new mountain snows won’t save us from this drought

NPR reports that heavy mountain snowpacks in the Upper Colorado River Basin won’t save us from this megadrought unless they continue for several more years. The culprit is ultra dry soils, warming temperatures that reduce flows, and lower snowpacks in recent years.
