Briefly: Judge rejects challenge to Denver’s Gross Reservoir expansion

According to Colorado Politics, a coalition of environmental groups that includes Save the Colorado and the Sierra Club, filed a petition in U.S. District Court for Colorado against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, seeking to rescind authorizations for the expansion of Gross Reservoir in Boulder County. The expansion of the reservoir aims to provide additional water storage and safeguard against future droughts. The petition argued that hazardous activities related to the project would create constant safety and health hazards, impacting the quality of life for landowners, residents, and visitors. U.S. District Court Judge Christine M. Arguello ruled that there was no legal authority to address the challenge and dismissed the case.
