Briefly: Colorado River Connectivity Channel receives final federal approval, cleared for construction to begin this summer

Sky-Hi News reports that the Natural Resources Conservation Service released a Finding of No Significant Impact in its environmental assessment of the proposed Colorado River Connectivity Channel. Once constructed, the channel will reconnect the river, allowing it to flow around Windy Gap Reservoir to improve aquatic habitat and water quality in the Fraser and Colorado rivers. Construction on the project, proposed by the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District and Municipal Subdistrict, Grand County, Trout Unlimited, and the Upper Colorado River Alliance, is set to begin in June or July and should be complete by the end of 2023.
